Mushroom Log Inoculation Workshop with Ian Giesbrecht

Come learn about woodland mushroom cultivation! This method bridges ecological land management with local, sustainable food production. Log cultivated mushrooms mimic natural processes, so it does not require much in terms of infrastructure or equipment.  In this session you will learn some basics of mushroom biology and how to effictively cultivate shitake mushrooms with this method. The workshop will be led by Ian Giesbrecht, an experienced forrester and conservationist. The session will be a hands on workshop, hosted at Pleasant Valley Farm in Mansfield. Be sure to wear appropriate clothes for getting dirty;  gloves are recommended.  There is a covered pavillion on site, so this event is rain or shine! Cultivated logs will be available for sale after the workshop at $25 each, if you would like to take one home.
