Who are the producers and how are they selected?Producers within LFSA are regular members who have decided to share their products with other members. The association has strict quality standards and visit every producer to make sure that their products are grown / made as they are described and in a safe and sanitary manner. We also encourage members to confirm for themselves by coming to producer events, exploring their member profile and talking with them directly through the groups and chat function of our website.
-
Can we visit member farms?Yes! Farmers love to have visitors! However, they also have a lot of work to do. The association periodically organizes farm dinners, workshops, and tour events where you will be able to come out and meet the people who are growing your food and experience how it is done. There is also volunteer opportunities available where you can roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty alongside the farmers. This is a great way to develop a deeper appreciation of the work that food producers live.

How can we become more involved?Throughout the seasons, there will be volunteer opportunities where you can come out the farms and contribute your time in planting, maintaining and harvesting your food. We also host educational presentations and hands on workshops where you can hone your skills or pick up new ones! If there are particular topics you would like to participate in more, please suggest an event on our Events page
-
Is the packing and delivery material biodegradable and eco-friendly?As much as possible, yes! We use biodegradable and reusable / recyclable packing options. However, not all products can easily use eco-friendly packaging. Please rinse and return any reusable items: glass, egg cartons, and certain plastics can be washed and reused. If you are uncertain which of your packages can be reused don't hesitate to reach out using the chat button, text or email!
-
Will fresh produce only be available seasonally? In the off seasons you will still be able to obtain fresh produce, however there will be less variety. We are working with the farmers to promote year round production, however many varieties will be limited to particular seasons. We also will periodically source special products which are definitely worth importing from other regions, such as citrus or other more tropical or climate specific products.
-
Can I choose my own order? or do I need to accept a farm share? On our grocery page you can find and choose individual items to add to your order. You can also choose to make a subscription order, in which case what is in your order persists into future orders - saving you the effort of making an order each week. Keep in mind that if you purchase an item which you only want only once, you will need to remove it from your cart order sometime during the week or it will be added to the following order as well.

How does this association work?Once you read and agree to our contractual application, you will gain access to the Little Farm Store Association community, including an online grocery where you can order food from other producing members. We deliver locally grown / crafted foods once per week to your home or office, or we have a number of convenient locations where you can pick up orders from during business hours. Orders are delivered in insulated containers with enough ice packs to keep your order fresh for many hours. Every delivery day please leave the insulated container as well as other reusable materials out for our drivers and we will pick them up when we deliver your order. With a membership, you also gain access to our private member community. Here you can connect with your food in a whole new way, learning how its grown, and meeting the people who grow it while expanding your knowledge about nutrition, health, and well-being along the way.
-
Is this a contract?Yes. To become a member of Little Farm Store Association you must agree with our voluntary contractual agreement. This private contract is what enables us to connect you with other members outside of public jurisdiction. You are able to withdraw from the contract at any time by informing us in writing (or email) that you would like to exit the association. Canceled annual membership dues will be refunded at a pro-rata monthly basis.
-
What is the quality of the products like?We guarantee the quality of all products you receive. If you have a quality concern, please let us know as soon as possible. Our producing members stand behind their products and are proud of its purity and quality. Any products that are unsatisfactory will be credited to your account. Please keep in mind that the foods grown within our network have some natural variation to them - not all the carrots will be straight, and occasionally you might find other imperfections. This is evidence that your food is real and not factory farmed. Some meats will have slightly different texture or flavor than others. This is evidence that your food has been raised with the natural variations of nature. We visit all producing members regularly to ensure their products are being grown as advertised properly and we coordinate many on-farm events so our members can come out and see for themselves how their food is grown. Products available to our members are not regulated by public statues, but we are serious about food quality and safety and are dedicated to transparency within our membership.
-
Are your fruits & veggies organic? We DO have many choices for our members many of which are organic. We are dedicated to informing our members about the specifics of the food options that are available to them through our online grocery. We accurately describe everything, and work hard to connect the producer directly to you so you know exactly how they are grown / made and you are able to ask any questions you may have.
-
How does our purchases contribute to the local agri-economy?When you choose to support local agriculture, your $$ circulates closer to home, promoting your neighbors' prosperity. The majority of $$ that goes to national and multinational business conglomerates leaves our community and very little of it reaches the people who are actually growing the food. It's estimated that for every $1 spent on industrial agriculture only $0.14 goes to the people directly involved in the growing of the food. When you buy food through the Little Farm Store Association, at least 50% of the final prices got directly to the farm which grows it. If you would like to learn more about how purchasing local improves our communities please read our blog article on the subject.

How do producing members benefit from participating in LFS Association?Farming is hard work and with very demanding hours. No matter what the weather conditions are or how hot or cold it is, farmers need to tend to growing their products. By connecting with this association, producers can focus more on their craft and less on finding customers, traveling to markets and otherwise selling their products. Additionally, we connect farmers with educational resources, workshops and networking events to share ideas and experience with other farmers and educators.
-
How do non-producing members benefit from joining LFS Association?Finding pure food is becoming increasingly difficult despite the increasing amounts of regulations that food businesses must comply with. By joining this association you connect with a group of like minded eaters who want to know where their food comes from and how it is grown. By joining LFS Association, you can conveniently connect with a network of food producers dedicated to their craft and have it brought to your home. Additionally, this contributes directly to the prosperity of your community by supporting the people who grow our food locally, improving the whole regions health, prosperity and food security.

What is your policy on allergiesRight now, we do not have a policy in place to use separate delivery containers for members with food sensitive. You can order products that do not contain any items that you are allergic to, however, though we do wash the containers, we cannot guarantee that there is no residue present. If you do have any allergies or other conditions we should know about, please contact use directly and let us know. We will do our best to work with you and take extra care when packing your order to ensure it is safe.
-
Is this similar to a CSA (Community supported agriculture)?Great question! We feel like we are very different from a CSA. Though we do have many of the same products, and purchases do support local agriculture. The main difference is that you are able to pick and choose which items you would like each week. This is unlike most CSA programs where you generally get everything that is coming from the garden at the time. Little Farm Store Association is a network of many small producers which enables you to choose from a much wider variety of goods than a single farm CSA - plus we can deliver you order directly to your door.
-
How do you recycle / reuse the containers used in delivery?Every week web we drop off orders, we also pick up the containers from the previous delivery. Most of the packaging materials we deliver with are reusable and we all can reduce waste by rinsing and returning packaging. This includes all the glass and many of the plastic containers used for delivering products. We wash and sanitize everything before using them for another delivery.
-
What types of payments do you accept?Currently we accept all major credit cards, PayPal, as well as personal checks and cash at delivery. We will also be accepting Bitcoin and a number of other digital currencies soon as well.
-
Do I need to provide a cooler and ice packs for deliveries to my home or office? If you know you will not be available at the time of delivery, you are able to provide your own cooler with ice packs to ensure your order stays cool. However, we deliver in insulated totes with ice packs which should stay cool for multiple hours. During the summer we use extra ice to protect your products freshness. If you do want to provide the extra protection of a cooler, please let us know and we will place your order inside when we deliver. (it will need to be a fairly large cooler to hold the delivery bags which are 8x12x15)
